A Conversation With Madam Warden
The Friends of the Elk Rapids District Library were honored to host “A Conversation with Madam Warden” featuring Pam Withrow, author of Madam Warden: A Memoir of the First Woman to Head an All-Male Prison in Michigan.
Guests enjoyed an engaging and thought-provoking conversation as Withrow shared her remarkable journey, experiences in corrections, and the challenges and triumphs of becoming a trailblazer in a traditionally male-dominated field. Her stories offered a fascinating glimpse into Michigan history while highlighting leadership, resilience, and the power of breaking barriers.

A Whimsical Ladybug Garden Gathering
Join the Friends of the Elk Rapids District Library for a magical family garden party fundraiser on the lake filled with ladybugs, laughter, and whimsy. We enjoyed snacks, crafts, and an interactive improv comedy show from Full Tilt Comedy in a beautiful garden setting. The afternoon concluded in a release of live ladybugs.
